goCORA App Terms of Use

Effective date: 7 November 2026 · Applies to the goCORA app (app ID com.gocora.app) on iOS, Android and Windows, goCORA accounts, and the goCORA services the app uses

In short: these terms are the agreement between you and CORA Cyber Security Inc. for using goCORA. goCORA is built for security, but no software is perfect, so it is provided "as is". You are responsible for keeping your CORA key code and recovery code safe: if you lose them, nobody, not even goCORA, can open your encrypted data. Premium and subscriptions are bought, renewed and cancelled through your app store. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer laws where you live.

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and CORA Cyber Security Inc. ("goCORA", "we", "us"), PO Box 33024, Windsor PRO Lakeview, ON Canada N8Y 0A2. By installing or using goCORA, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use goCORA.

How goCORA handles your information is explained in the goCORA App Privacy Policy. Our websites are covered by our website terms of service. If you use goCORA for an organization, you confirm that you may accept these terms for it.

2. Who can use goCORA

  • You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 where local law sets a higher age).
  • If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you, and is responsible for any purchases.
  • You may not use goCORA if the law where you live does not allow it.

3. Your licence to use goCORA

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use goCORA on devices you own or control, under these terms and the rules of the app store you got it from. goCORA, the CORA encryption technology and our names and logos belong to us; this licence doesn't give you ownership of them. Some parts of goCORA are open-source software under their own licences.

You agree not to:

  • copy, sell, rent or share goCORA, or a goCORA subscription, with others;
  • modify, decompile or reverse-engineer goCORA, except where the law allows it despite this term;
  • get around goCORA's limits, such as the free secure email limits or the number of subscription devices;
  • use goCORA's services other than through the goCORA app, for example with automated scripts.

4. Your goCORA account

  • A goCORA account is optional for reading and sending ordinary email. It is needed for:
    • secure email;
    • encrypted backups and restores, including local backups;
    • your CORA key code, which protects your data on all your devices, with your device list and security alerts;
    • the optional AI features;
    • subscription features. (Premium is linked to your app store account.)
  • Use a real email address you control, and keep your password private. We recommend turning on two-step verification.
  • You are responsible for what happens through your account. If you think someone else is using it, change your password and tell us at [email protected].
  • Keep the devices you use goCORA on secure: install updates, use a screen lock, and don't use goCORA on a jailbroken or rooted device, or on one you think has malware. We recommend goCORA's own protections too, such as requiring sign-in, biometric unlock and locking after inactivity.
  • You can delete your account at any time in the app or at gocora.com (see the privacy policy, section 8).

5. Your CORA key code, recovery code and backups

Please read this section carefully. It explains the most important limit of goCORA's security.

  • goCORA encrypts your data on your device. We never have your CORA key code or your recovery code. Your keys reach goCORA's services only encrypted, in pieces kept by different companies, and we don't have what is needed to open them. So we cannot reset your codes, look them up, or open your encrypted data for you.
  • If you lose both your CORA key code and your recovery code, and none of your devices still has goCORA open, your secure email keys, synced data and backups may be lost for good. Starting over with a new security key means older backups and secure emails can no longer be opened.
  • You are responsible for keeping your CORA key code and recovery code safe, and for making backups of anything important.
  • Cloud sync and online backups are a convenience, not a guarantee. For important mail, also keep a local backup of your own.
  • Deleting your goCORA account deletes the data goCORA keeps for it, including cloud sync copies and online backups, at once from our active systems; recovery copies kept by our providers expire on their own (privacy policy, section 8).

6. Your email and content

  • Your email stays between you and your email providers. goCORA connects to them on your behalf; their own terms and policies apply.
  • You must have the right to use the email accounts you add to goCORA.
  • You are responsible for the emails and attachments you send, including secure emails, and for who you send them to.
  • We don't control your email providers. They may change how sign-in works, limit or block access, or be unavailable, and goCORA may stop working with a provider for reasons outside our control.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use goCORA to:

  • break the law, or help someone else break it;
  • send spam or bulk unsolicited email, phishing, malware or other harmful content;
  • harass, threaten or harm others, or harm minors in any way;
  • infringe other people's rights, such as copyright or privacy;
  • attack, overload, probe or interfere with goCORA's services, or with other people's use of them;
  • create accounts, or make false key requests, to get around limits or to mislead other users.

8. Premium and subscriptions

  • What you get: goCORA is free to use with some limits. Premium is a one-time purchase that unlocks features that run on your device, on the devices that use the same app store account on one platform. A subscription adds goCORA's cloud features and works on up to 5 devices on any platform, linked to your goCORA account. The current features are described in the app and in Help.
  • Price: the price, including any taxes, is shown by your app store before you buy.
  • Payment: Apple, Google or Microsoft takes payment under its own terms. We never see your payment card details.
  • Automatic renewal: a subscription renews automatically at the end of each period (monthly or yearly) unless you cancel it in your app store account's subscription settings before it renews. Each store sets its own deadline; for example, Apple's App Store asks you to cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Removing the app or deleting your goCORA account does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds: refunds are handled by the app store you paid, under its refund policy. We can't issue refunds for store purchases ourselves, except where the law requires it.
  • Price changes: if a subscription price changes, your store will tell you in advance, as its rules require, and you can cancel before the new price applies.
  • When a subscription ends: subscription features stop, and the data on your devices stays. Your synced data, online backups, cloud key records and backup account setting are kept for 30 days, then deleted (privacy policy, section 3.11). Renewing within 30 days keeps everything.
  • Changes to features: we may add, change or remove features over time, including the free limits. If a change significantly reduces a subscription feature you have, we will tell you in advance, and you can cancel the subscription.
  • Premium is yours to keep: we won't remove a feature you paid for with Premium. If we ever have to, for legal or security reasons, we will offer an equivalent feature or, where the law requires it, a refund.

9. Optional AI features

  • AI features are optional and use your own API key with OpenAI or Anthropic. That provider's terms, policies and charges apply, and you are responsible for any charges on your key.
  • AI can be wrong. Check its summaries, drafts and suggestions before you rely on them or send anything. You are responsible for what you send or do based on them.

10. goCORA's services

  • Secure email, sync, online backups and notifications need an internet connection and goCORA's online services, which run on providers such as Google and Cloudflare (privacy policy, section 6).
  • We work to keep these services available and secure, but they may sometimes be interrupted, slow or changed, for example for maintenance or because of a provider. Some things depend on others: a key request waits until the sender's device answers, and notifications depend on Apple and Google.
  • Services have limits, described in the app and in Help, such as the size and number of online backups.
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others or our services at risk. Where reasonable, we will tell you first and explain why.
  • If we ever stop offering goCORA's online services, we will give reasonable notice so you can make a local backup.

11. Other companies' services and links

goCORA works with services from other companies, such as your email providers, the app stores and AI providers, and Help or tips may link to other websites. We are not responsible for those services or websites, which have their own terms and privacy policies.

12. Encryption and export

goCORA contains encryption. You agree to follow the export and import laws that apply to you, including those of Canada and the United States, and not to use goCORA where, or by anyone whom, those laws prohibit.

13. No warranty

goCORA is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises or warranties beyond those written in these terms, including implied warranties that it is fit for a particular purpose, of merchantable quality or non-infringing.

In particular, we do not promise that goCORA will always be available or free of errors, that it will protect against every attack, or that your data will never be lost. Your security also depends on things we don't control, such as:

  • how your devices are protected: whether they are kept up to date, have a screen lock, are jailbroken or rooted, or have malware or untrusted apps installed;
  • who else can use your devices, and whether you leave goCORA unlocked;
  • your passwords, and whether you reuse them or share them, or your codes, with others;
  • falling for phishing or scam emails, links or attachments;
  • your network, your email providers and the people you write to.

goCORA can't fully protect your data on a device that has been taken over by someone else or by harmful software.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, goCORA is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, business or goodwill, arising from your use of goCORA or your inability to use it, even if we were told such damage was possible.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim about goCORA is limited to the amount you paid for goCORA in the 12 months before the claim, or CA$50 if you paid nothing.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as liability for fraud, for gross or intentional fault, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

15. Your rights as a consumer

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived. If you live in Quebec, sections 13 and 14 apply only as far as Quebec's Consumer Protection Act allows. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, your statutory rights are not affected.

16. Responsibility for your misuse

To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover reasonable costs and claims made against us by others because you broke these terms or the law while using goCORA.

17. Ending this agreement

  • You can stop using goCORA at any time and delete your goCORA account. Cancel any subscription separately in your app store.
  • We may end this agreement for an account under section 10.
  • Sections 5, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 19 continue to apply after the agreement ends.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when goCORA changes. We will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app at least 30 days before they apply (or sooner only when the law or your security requires it). Changes apply only from their effective date, not to anything that happened before. If you keep using goCORA after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, stop using goCORA, cancel any subscription and delete your account.

19. Law and disputes

  • If you have a problem with goCORA, please email [email protected]; we will try to resolve it within 30 days. This is optional: it doesn't delay any legal deadline, and it doesn't stop you from seeking urgent help from a court or authority.
  • These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of Ontario.
  • If the consumer laws where you live give you the right to apply your local law, or to go to your local courts (for example in Quebec), that right is not affected.

20. If you got goCORA from Apple's App Store

  • These terms are between you and goCORA, not Apple. goCORA, not Apple, is responsible for the app, its content, maintenance and support.
  • If goCORA fails to meet a warranty that applies by law, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the app's purchase price, if any. To the fullest extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for goCORA.
  • goCORA, not Apple, is responsible for any claim about the app, such as product liability, failure to meet a legal requirement, consumer protection or privacy claims, and claims that goCORA infringes someone else's intellectual property.
  • You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and that you are not on a U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these terms against you as third-party beneficiaries.

Purchases through Google Play and the Microsoft Store are also subject to Google's and Microsoft's terms.

21. General

  • These terms, the privacy policy and the app store's terms are the whole agreement between you and us about goCORA.
  • If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later.
  • You may not transfer this agreement. We may transfer it to a company that takes over goCORA, and your rights under it stay the same.
  • If these terms are translated, the English version applies if versions differ, except where the law requires otherwise.
